Accurate Position Acquisition

MyLocator retrieves your device’s position using GPS, mobile networks, or WiFi, providing flexibility and reliability in different environments. The widget shows the time at which the location was last acquired, helping you understand data freshness. Because acquisition times vary depending on signal quality and device conditions, slight discrepancies are normal.

Maidenhead & DMS Coordinate Formats

The widget displays your coordinates using the Maidenhead grid system, a format widely used by ham radio operators to transmit locations in a compact, standardized way. This alphanumeric code is composed of pairs of letters and numbers, offering both precision and simplicity. For users who prefer traditional geographic formats, MyLocator can also display coordinates in DDMMSS (degrees, minutes, seconds) by enabling the option in Preferences.

UTC Time Display

To maintain global consistency, MyLocator displays time in UTC (Universal Time Clock), based on the Greenwich zero meridian. Ham radio users worldwide rely on UTC because it avoids confusion caused by time zones or daylight saving changes. MyLocator shows the UTC timestamp of the most recent location acquisition.

Altitude & Atmospheric Pressure

If your device supports additional sensors, MyLocator also displays altitude and atmospheric pressure. These added details are especially useful for hikers, climbers, and users operating in environments where elevation and pressure readings matter.

Simple Widget Installation

Installing MyLocator is straightforward: open your device’s Programs list, choose Widgets, then drag MyLocator onto your preferred home screen page. The widget updates its data every time you tap it—just remember to activate your GPS for the most accurate results.
